The LDGO came out of a surprise birthday party for one of us in 2009 where a hole-in-one was hit, and by the end of the day we'd decided to do it again the next year. Seventeen years in, the seven of us still sibling about the same things and still show up in August.

This year we took the big step of forming The Laddie Douglas Memorial Foundation Inc. as a 501(c)(3). The Outing remains our flagship event, and we're still committed to raising funds for blood cancer treatment, research, and education. Proceeds go to Blood Cancer United, formerly known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Our parents, Laddie and Helen Douglas, both died of blood cancer. Both of them loved to golf, and they're the reason the rest of us do.

It's a full day at Evergreen in Elkhorn. Golf, lunch, a steak dinner afterward, and raffle tables that take up most of the pavilion. A lot of the people who come have been coming for years. And this year, what you give is tax-deductible. We can't wait to see you in August.
